Abstract : If we intended to summarize the conception of rhythm that has prevailed in the common doxa throughout the last centuries, we could say that the aforementioned concept has been interpreted, since Plato, as meter or measure. In the “modern” age the term “rhythm” is continued to be interpreted in that conventional way, until recent “post-modern” theoreticians, directly or indirectly inspired in the ideas of Émile Benveniste – about the overlapping of the ideas of schema “form” and movement or “flow” – trace the meaning of rhythm to the pre-Socratic philosophers, with the aim of eventually approaching subjectivity in discourse. The present article offers a reflexion on these ideas relating them to the existential analytic of the German philosopher Martin Heidegger.
